Together with the Quipa Collective, we supported the Waorani Nationality of Ecuador (NAWE) in their fight to defend Yasuní, one of the key global biodiversity hotspots.

We created a strategy to position NAWE as a leader in Yasuní conservation efforts, ensuring their right to participation and self-determination is respected.

We accompanied their advocacy actions in Quito and traveled to Puyo, in the heart of Ecuador’s Amazon, to document the International Summit for Yasuní. This summit resulted in an action plan with alternatives to dismantle oil infrastructure and build a post-extractivist future.

Our Approach

  • Position NAWE’s leadership by highlighting their crucial role in defending Yasuní and their fight against climate change and biodiversity loss.

  • Amplify the "International Summit for Yasuní" as a key platform to propose alternatives and mobilize international support for the protection of Indigenous Peoples and their vital territory.

  • Inspire the defense of Indigenous territories, raising awareness about the importance of Yasuní and the urgent need to protect it for future generations.
