Late Latinoamérica is a communication, advocacy, and activism platform created by Colmena Lab to delve into the diverse realities, cultures, and issues of the region.

Late Latinoamérica stems from the need for a space for analysis, discussion, visibility, and the creation of tools to address and improve the most important issues and proposals coming from the frontlines, territories, and extraordinary individuals who seek to transform the world every day.

Each episode of Late Latinoamérica delves into the different realities, cultures, and issues of the region from a diverse perspective that encompasses cultural, social, political, economic, and environmental aspects.

Currently, Late Latinoamérica has an audience from 10 countries in Latin America, the United States, and Europe, with specialized journalists, NGO members, and activists as its primary audiences. It also has digital communities on social media platforms.

One of the priorities of this space is to cover topics related to energy transition, extractivism, large-scale infrastructure projects, and any development initiative that endangers communities and nature. Similarly, we prioritize the promotion and defense of people and communities engaged in the protection of forests, water, and territories.

Currently, Late Latinoamérica is funded by Colmena Lab’s own resources, but we are seeking to create a sustainable model through a combination of direct donations, grants, and sponsorships.

The mid- and long-term vision of Late Latinoamérica is to incorporate new spaces and free communication and training products for grassroots organizations, local communities, indigenous peoples, and activists on the frontlines.

Through communication and technology, Late Latinoamérica aims to connect rights defenders with local issues to the global context and enable them to develop more effective resistance strategies and tactics from the digital space.
